About Me

Annemaaike van de Velden

Hello! My name is Annemaaike and I am a 28 year old illustrator from the Netherlands.

I have finished the illustration/animation course at AKV St. Joost, Breda, The Netherlands, and I received my bachelor degree for Design. I have also done a Minor in Immersive Storytelling.

I am curious about the world, and especially nature, which I love to capture with my illustrations. I take inspiration from my surroundings and turn them into playful, colourful detailed illustrations.
I enjoy working with analog materials, such as watercolours or pastels, and for digital work I love working with my cintiq in Photoshop. I also have experience in InDesign while creating How to Tea, Jubelteen and Leven vol Kleur. I create the titles in Affinity Designer.

My main direction in my work right now is Children’s Illustration with a focus on nature and fantasy. I’ve always been fascinated by the wonderfully colourful illustrations you’ll find in storybooks targeted towards younger audiences. Of course I’d love to explore multiple directions in the creative industry, so I like to keep my eyes open.
